Bachelor’s and Master’s dissertation award IAI-Department of Culture, Politics and Society University of Turin – third edition

The winners of the third edition (2024-2025) of the Dissertation Award "Italy, Europe and International Relations: History, Policies, Perspectives "organised by IAI together with the Department of Culture, Politics and Society of the University of Turin have been selected. The Award has been established with the support of the Fondazione CSF and Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo and was aimed at recent graduates of the University of Turin who had discussed a Bachelor’s or Master’s dissertation between October 2024 and November 2025.
The Jury, made up of representatives of the organizations promoting the prize, selected the following dissertations as winners:
- For the bachelor's degree dissertation category, Governance climatica e interdipendenza complessa: il critical raw materials act nella politica estera dell’UE by Dott. Giacomo Bodrato (Bachelor’s degree in Scienze internazionali, dello sviluppo e della cooperazione, supervisor prof. Giuseppe Gabusi), for its in-depth research on the Critical Raw Materials Act, with a detailed historical and political analysis and significant methodological accuracy, combining a topic of contemporary relevance with an attempt at a more general and long-term framework.
- For the master's dissertation category, Statehood at a Crossroads: Armenia's Velvet Revolution and the Breakdown of the Nagorno Karabakh Peace Process by Dr Andrea Colombo (Master's degree course in International Sciences, Peace and Conflict Studies, supervisor Prof. Marco di Giovanni), for the quality of the research on the Nagorno-Karabakh case, the methodology used for the selection and analysis of the case study, and the ability to frame the individual case in a broader context of global relevance.
Each of the winning theses will receive a cash prize of €1,500 and a dedicated plaque that will be assigned at the award ceremony which will soon be held at the University of Turin. An extract from both theses will be published in IAI's online channels.
