The outcome of the American midterm elections will impact also US foreign and defense policy, including negotiations with Russia and Ukraine, Washington’s role in NATO and the Alliance’s evolution. At the same time, NATO is changing — and will continue to do so —due to factors beyond the current administration. In any case, Europe will have to face Russian aggressivity — in Ukraine and elsewhere — while relying less on its American ally than in the past and addressing the strategic issues raised by the Russia-Ukraine war. The interplay between US political-electoral dynamics and trends in the Euro-Atlantic area lies at the heart of the event "Europe’s Security in Light of the US Midterms." This debate is organized also to launch the Routledge – IAI volume *The War in Ukraine, NATO, and European Defence: Italian Perspectives* and will gather Institute’s experts, journalists and analysts engaging in a dialogue with the audience.
