Defence Summit 2025 - Un’Italia più sicura e difesa

Recent conflicts, starting with Russia's invasion of Ukraine, and episodes of hybrid warfare such as repeated violations of the airspace and cyber defences of various European states have led NATO countries, including Italy, and the European Union to recognise the need to increase their defence and security capabilities. Since 2022, we have been living in a historical phase in which, unfortunately, peace in Europe cannot be taken for granted and our democracies must be defended. This assumption formed the basis of the first edition of the Defence Summit, an event organised by Il Sole 24 Ore and IAI in collaboration with Centro Alti Studi per la Difesa (CASD), which involved the major Italian and international players in the sector, from political decision-makers to military leaders, from NATO to representatives of major companies. In addition to presentations on the economic value of the Italian aerospace and defence industry and beyond, the event addressed key topics such as technological developments in the land, naval, air and space domains, developments in cybersecurity at the public and private levels, and multi-domain operations in the new strategic scenario. In a dedicated session, IAI researchers presented a new IAI study titled “Taking Multi-Domain Operations from Theory to Practice”, followed by a discussion featuring some of Italy’s highest-ranking authorities from the Armed Forces and the defence industry.
