Lo spazio nei conflitti, i conflitti nello spazio

23/02/2022, Webinar

Space is the ultimate frontier not only for the technological, industrial, intelligence and political competition among great powers, but also for innovations opening new scenarios of space operations run by dedicated military commands. The EU invests in important constellations for Navigation and Earth Observation such as Galileo and Copernicus - to be protected - while NATO has recognized space as new operational domain. Italy is the second European country for number of assets in orbit and the third largest contributor to European Space Agency, and it counts on a Space Operations Command and a competitive, cutting-edge industrial base: as such, Rome can and should play a greater role in this strategic domain.

The conference “Space in conflicts, conflicts in space” will present the new IAI study “The expanding nexus between space and defence”. It will be commented by the presidents of the Defence Committees of both Chamber of Deputies and Senate, the Chief of Defence and the Space Operations Commander, the Chiefs Executive Officers of Leonardo – Alessandro Profumo – Thales Alenia Space and Telespazio. Minister of Defence Lorenzo Guerini will conclude the debate, to be moderated by Airpress magazine’s director.
