Il Libro bianco sulla difesa europea e RearmEurope

On 5 June 2025, IAI organised at its premise a roundtable on "ReArm Europe and the White paper on European defence". The closed-door event, run under Chatham House Rule, brought together over 40 representatives of Italian civilian and military institutions, the aerospace and defence industries, the banking and financial sector, as well as of the European Commission's for Defence Industry and Space (DG DEFIS).

The meeting provided an opportunity for an informal, frank and inclusive discussion, with a view to a whole-of-country approach, regarding the ongoing changes in the defence sector in Europe. The focus was on the new financial incentives for military investments, such as the partial exemption of defence expenditure from the deficit calculation under the Stability and Growth Pact, and the 150 billion euro EU loans from the SAFE programme.
