Call for Special Issue Proposals
The International Spectator is inviting proposals for a Special Issue to be published in 2028. The deadline for the submission of proposals is 30 November 2026.
We welcome contributions that are original, theoretically driven and empirically rigorous. Topics can cover the entire spectrum of international relations. We recognise the scholarly value of diverse perspectives and approaches, and welcome a variety of methodologies, both quantitative and qualitative. We are strongly committed to gender balance and diversity and encourage submissions from scholars at all career stages and from all world regions.
Prospective guest editors should submit a proposal outlining the main research questions, theoretical approach(es), empirical focus and intended contribution of the Special Issue. Special issue proposals should contain 8-12 substantive articles of 7,000-8,000 words, including an introduction. The proposal should include a list of the contributions, with the name and affiliation of the authors, and a short abstract of 100 words per contribution. Please use the RSPE Special Issue/Special Core template downloadable from here to prepare your proposals.
The journal editors aim to provide a response to all submitted proposals by 15 December 2026. The individual contributions of the accepted proposal will be subject to the standard peer review process of the journal.
Expressions of interest and enquiries may be directed to the editorial office: tis@iai.it.
