Defence Spending and Cooperation

A IAI study analyses recent trends in European defence spending and cooperation and the rise in bilateral and regional military cooperation, particularly with Germany and the US, often outside of established frameworks such as NATO or the EU. Resurgent terrorist threats, an assertive Russia and the security crisis in the Mediterranean are some of the recent challenges that have led to an increase in defence spending among European countries in 2015-16.
