The security in the Mediterranean and Italy

The project’s objective was to further explore from different perspectives the importance of Mediterranean’s security, not only for Italy but also for Europe. The so-called “Mare Nostrum” is ever more a crossroad of economic-trade and energy interests, of political instability and regional crises as well as a focal point for immigration and illegal trade. The study points out the necessity of a greater political commitment aimed to promote the security of Mediterranean, with a particular attention on naval assets. The results of the research project were published in the volume "La sicurezza nel Mediterraneo e l'Italia", in the Quaderni IAI series, and presented in Rome on 30 November 2015.
