On 10 February 2021, IAI and the Vienna Center for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation (VCDNP) held the first Outreach Event of the "Young Women In Non-Proliferation and Disarmament" initiative, an initiative launched by both organizations to encourage young women and the new generation to approach the issues of non-proliferation, arms control and the field of disarmament.

The event, unique of its kind given the focus on career-tracks, saw the participation of prominent figures in the sector such as Angela Kane, former High Representative for Disarmament Affairs at the United Nations, The Norwegian Ambassador to Austria - Kjersti Ertresvaag Andersen, Dr. Kim Baines of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and Dr. Heather Williams of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

The event, opened by Elena Sokova - director of the VCDNP and moderated by Federica Dall’Arche - researcher at the IAI, was attended by over 450 people.
