President Xi Jinping arrives in Italy

As President Xi Jinping arrives in Italy today, the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding between Italy and China on the Belt and Road Initiative may help Beijing drive a wedge in the Euro-Atlantic alliance, undermining EU efforts to find a common stance vis-à-vis China, while weakening the US in its ongoing tug-of-war with China over trade and global leadership.
