Venezuela's crisis and the role of Italy

In response to the Venezuelan crisis, Italy has called for new elections soon in the country, but has not joined EU allies in recognizing Juan Guaidó as interim president. Italy's neutral stance on the issue has prevented the EU from developing a united front on Venezuela. This is a sign of Italy's growing isolation within the European Union.
