Huge potential, or eternally unfulfilled promise?

In the energy sector, like many others, Africa – a land of huge potential – risks being relegated to being a land of eternally unfulfilled promise. The rapid increase in crude and natural gas output before the financial meltdown of 2008, and the discovery of new deposits in more remote corners of the continent, made it look as if Africa could become a leading player in the global energy sector.
