From Jugoslavia’s dissolution to European ambitions

Thirty years have passed since the beginning of Jugoslavia’s dissolution on June 25, 1991 and more than twenty since the NATO bombing of Serbia in 1999, that determined the end of the Jugoslav wars. With the exception of Slovenia and Croatia, which joined the EU respectively in 2004 and 2013, the other countries in the region remain distant from the core of Europe.

The IAI and the MAXXI organized the conference "Dalla Jugoslavia all’Unione Europea" that took place on July 6, 2021 from 6pm to 7.30pm in the frame of the exhibition "Bigger than myself. Heroic voices from ex Jugoslavia". The event offered the possibility to meet and discuss the relations between Italy, EU and successor states of Former Jugoslavia.
