JOINT: Perspectives from the US, China, Russia and Iran

Challenges to EU foreign and security policy have been mounting in recent years. Many factors, such as the global engagement of the US, compel the EU and its member states to rethink their role along new patterns of multipolar interactions. The emergence of nationalist forces often espousing Eurosceptic views complicates efforts to reach intra-EU consensus on international security matters. The interplay between these factors affects how EU faces crises and conflicts. JOINT, an EU-funded project on EU foreign & security policy, analyses these dynamics while addressing the question of how the EU and its member states can make their foreign and security policy structures more joined-up and sustainable.

On April 30, 2021 a high level panel of senior international experts will discuss the EU’s role in today’s world and how key international players perceive it in the opening public event of JOINT.
