In 2010, after ten years, the yearbook's title has been changed to La politica estera
dell'Italia (Italy's foreign policy) in an attempt to concentrate analysis and
comments almost exclusively on Italy's role in a changing world.
Edited in cooperation with ISPI and published by il Mulino, the yearbook's
structure has also been revamped: a new introductory
chapter, presenting
analytical tables and graphs, offers an overall picture of Italy's main
interests, priorities and initiatives in the international field.
The subsequent chapters, more sectorial, delve more thoroughly into
various aspects of Italy's external action. The volume includes a
dual chronology - of the major international events and Italian foreign policy.
This yearbook continues the former L'Italia e la politica internazionale
(2000-2009) and draws on two distinct traditions:
that of the L'Italia nella politica internazionale yearbook, put out by the IAI
from 1972 to 1994, and that of the Annuario di politica internazionale and the
Rapporto sullo Stato del Sistema Internazionale, published by ISPI from
1935 to 1972 and from 1992 to 1996, respectively.
The information and analyses presented make the yearbook a useful tool
for anyone interested in following foreign policy events and the processes
of internationalisation that directly or indirectly involve all of us today.
