May Chartouni-Dubarry
is Consulting Senior Fellow at the IAI's programme
on the Meditterranean and the Middle-East. In 1987, she started working as
a research fellow at the Arab World and the Middle East Department at the
Institut Français des Relations Internationales (IFRI), Paris, France.
From 1999 to 2003, she was appointed head of the Middle-East and
Mediterranean Program. From 1996 to 2003, she was IFRI's liaison officer
of the Euro-Mediterranean Study Commission (EuroMeSCo) and member of its
steering committee. From 1991 to 1996 she was Associate Professor at the
Military Academy of Saint-Cyr where she taught an introductory class in
Middle-Eastern Politics (Political Islam, the Iraqi Issue, Security in the
Gulf, all issues related to the Arab-Israeli Conflict, Transatlantic
policies in the Middle-East ). Presently, she is conducting a three-year
personal research project on "The Lebanese-Israeli Conflict : a
Bilateral Perspective", involving substantial field work. Publication
due late 2007. She is also consultant at the French Ministry of Foreign
Affairs (Policy Planning Staff).
