Conference on
THE NEW TRANSATLANTIC AGENDA:
FACING THE CHALLENGES OF GLOBAL GOVERNANCE
|
|
Rome,
4-5 May 2001
|
|
This
conferences main objective is to analyse the
new developments in Euro-Atlantic relations in view
of the changing nature of the European Union and the
United States. The aim is also to identify and examine
in detail the main political processes in the Transatlantic
alliance, which condition the benchmarks of the origin
and the evolution of its policy formation. In addition,
the conference seeks to evaluate the emerging new
trends in Transatlantic relations with strategically
important third countries and regions, such as Russia,
China, the Balkans, and the Middle East, as well as
the EU and the U.S. relationship with key international
organizations, such as NATO, the UN and the G8. Finally,
a major objective of this project has been the formulation
and rationalization of plausible policy recommendations
with the purpose of contributing to the successful
transformation, strengthening, and continuity of the
Transatlantic alliance. The conference is being organized
by Radoslava Stefanova
with the scientific consultation of Stefano Silvestri
from the IAI.
